A little bit romantic, a little bit undone. The Sylvie is a Second Stories original, handmade here in Scotland in a limited run using beautiful vintage lace.
Cut in an oversized trapeze shape with a dropped waist and full gathered skirt, she has a boat neckline, adjustable tie shoulder straps and, of course, pockets.
Every Sylvie is completely unique. We work with individually sourced vintage lace, so the pattern, placement and exact finish will vary from dress to dress. The photographs show one example rather than the exact lace you will receive. Some skirts may be carefully panelled where we’ve worked with smaller pieces of lace, with additional vintage lace trims used to bring everything together. These variations are part of what makes each Sylvie completely one of a kind.
DETAILS
- Handmade in Scotland
- Made using individually sourced vintage lace
- Each dress is completely unique
- Oversized trapeze silhouette
- Dropped waist with a full gathered skirt
- Boat neckline
- Adjustable tie shoulder straps, allowing you to alter the overall length and armhole drop
- Side pockets
- Cotton lining attached at the bodice but left free through the skirt, allowing the lace skirt to move fully and independently
The free-hanging lining also gives you options. Tuck the cotton layer into trousers or a skirt to expose more of the lace, play with the length and transparency, or simply let everything hang loose.
SIZE & FIT
Available in UK sizes 8–16.
Sylvie is intentionally generous. Choose your usual size for the intended fit or size up if you want even more volume.
Nicci usually wears a UK 12–14 and is wearing a UK 16 in the photographs for a more exaggerated, oversized silhouette.
Wear her simply with bare legs now, then layer her over trousers, maxi skirts and knits when the weather turns. She’s far too good to pack away at the end of summer.
ONE DROP ONLY
We’re making just one small run of Sylvie this season and won’t be repeating her once she’s gone. Because we’re working with vintage lace, this exact collection could never really be recreated anyway.
No two quite the same.
