An ornate vintage brooch dating from the late 1950s to early 1960s, centred around a warm-toned oval acrylic cabochon with softly banded colouring. The stone is framed by an intricately moulded metal surround, richly detailed with pierced openwork and decorative thistle motifs encircling the setting.
The sculptural frame gives the piece depth and character, while the smooth cabochon provides contrast against the textured metalwork. Typical of mid-century costume jewellery, the acrylic stone was chosen for its visual impact rather than imitation, making this a confident and decorative design of its time.
